Scan a card

Point your iPhone at a card and Holofile finds its set, number and today’s price, right on your phone.

Updated

  1. Tap + in the middle of the tab bar. The first time, Holofile asks for the camera: tap Continue, then allow it.
  2. Hold one card flat in the frame. Holofile shows the match and its price.
  3. Check it, then tap Add. The add form opens with the printing and condition already set.

Tap Scan again for the next card, or switch to Multi to scan a pile. See Multi-scan a pile of cards.

Tips for a good scan

  • Lay the card flat on a table and hold your phone flat above it. If you see “Tilt the phone flatter”, level the phone.
  • Find good light, or turn on the flash. Long-press the flash button for Low, Med or High. Tilt the card away from lamps if a holo is glaring.
  • If a card won’t read, take it out of its sleeve or toploader.
  • Fill the frame with the card and hold still for a moment.
  • Still not picking it up? Tap the shutter to take a photo instead.

Wrong card?

Tap Change › or one of the other matches, or search with Wrong match? Search all cards. More in A scan picked the wrong card.

No camera, or a photo

If the camera isn’t available, or you’d rather not give Holofile camera access, tap Pick a photo to scan a picture of one card. To turn the camera back on, open the iPhone’s Settings → Holofile → Camera.

Scanning happens on your iPhone, against the catalog stored in the app. Camera frames aren’t uploaded.
